Overview
This publication was the second piece in a larger project centered on researching and writing about personal experience. While the first publication explored the difference between being a minority and being in the minority, this book examines the broader effects of identifying as a minority status.
To establish a baseline understanding, all relevant terms were defined using Merriam-Webster. Each term includes every official definition, with the most contextually relevant definition emphasized in bold. This approach allows readers to understand why specific meanings were prioritized rather than selectively presented.
The book is divided into chapters based on major effects of identifying as a minority status, informed by extensive research. Each chapter is distinguished by a unique background color representing a range of skin tones. This full spectrum carries through the front and back covers, reinforcing that no single skin color is exclusive to identifying as a minority.
